Common Issues
Air is entering the pump – Check suction lines to make sure all connections are tight. Check the level of the chemical tank. Remove obstructions and clean strainers.
Pump is not accurate – Check the suction line and clean the strainer. Check for obstructions in suction lines, discharge lines, and injectors. Check the condition of the tube and roller. Ensure the roller is the correct match for the tube. (See Spare Parts)
The pump will not run and/or shows “Alarm” – Check to make sure the pump is in the proper operating Mode. Press the “Mode” key until the proper Mode is activated.
Check to see if the pump display shows “Alarm” – “Alarm” will indicate that the TFD+ (leak detection) has detected a solution/chemical in the pump head. Or the Flow Verification System “FVS” has been activated. If the tube has leaked, it must be replaced, and the pump head cleaned before re-starting. Press the Run/Standby key twice to clear “Alarm”. If the “FVS’ has triggered the Alarm, but no FVS Sensor is connected to the pump, de-activate the “FVS” by pressing “Field” and “Digit” keys at the same time, and then set delay to “000”.
“Service” is displayed on the screen – The “Service” display indicates that the pump has run for 500 hours since the last tube change, or since the last “Reset Service.” Depending on your pump usage and expected tube life, either replace the tube and reset “Service”, or reset “Service” to add 500 hours until next “Service” notice.
“Alarm” and “Service” are blinking – Programming error has occurred. Check that programming values are within limits.
Electricals
The A-100NVP will not power up – Check power source or try a different power source. Check to ensure the power cable is properly wired.
The input signal (4-20mA, 0-10V, Pulse) is dropping or incorrect – Check wiring integrity and proper connection to pump. Ensure signal is powered via 15-24VDC. Check that all signal cables are shielded and properly grounded. Ensure signal wiring is not located or run next to high voltage power or equipment generating EMI. Ensure power wiring to the pump is clean/conditioned.
FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
A-100NVP Troubleshooting
- A100NV – Pump operates and unexplainably shuts down after a few seconds.
One cause is the the FVS system was accidentally activated. The other cause is the TFD has been triggered.
FVS – Flow Verification System -The A100NV is equipped with a Flow Verification System which is designed to stop the pump and provide a contact closure output in the event the chemical flow sensor (SOLD SEPERATELY) does not detect chemical during pump operation. This could indicate a clogged injection fitting, empty chemical solution tank, worn pump tube, loose tubing connection, etc.
To allow the pump to clear any gases that may have accumulated during stopped operation (such as with chlorine, PAA, etc.), an alarm delay time value from 1-256 seconds must be programmed to delay the alarm trigger. Press the FIELD and DIGIT buttons at the same time to enter the delay value. Note: an alarm delay value of 000 seconds disables the FVS system.
The pump will stop, and the alarm mode activated, if no pulses are received by the pump and the alarm delay time period has ended. Press the STANDBY button twice to clear the alarm and restart the pump.
The Flow Verification Sensor is sold as an optional accessory. Note that if a sensor is not installed, and the verification system is enabled, the pump will stop after the programmed alarm delay time is reached.
My pump keeps losing prime, why? There are a few reasons why the pump can lose prime. Typically, there is a poor seal or leak in the suction line somewhere above the solution level, or the level of the solution has dropped below the end of the suction tubing causing the solution to fall out of the suction tube. Check the tubing connection at the pump and ensure it is tight and leak free. Check all other connections, fittings, valves, and unions in the suction line to ensure there proper seals which will prevent the pump from drawing air into the suction. A faulty or worn pump roller, incorrect pump roller, or damaged pump head or pump shaft can also contribute to losing prime by not allowing the pump to properly pinch/squeeze the tube.
My pump won’t prime, why?Pump priming problems can be caused by clogged or blocked suction and discharge lines. Priming can be difficult or impossible when suction lines are not airtight. Check suction strainer an injection valve for clogs. Check suction tubing or piping connection at the pump. Redo connections as needed. Also check to make sure tubes and rollers are compatible and installed correctly.
Why will the pump not operate below the 10% mark on the dial knob? Some pump models have limitations when it comes to operating below the 10% mark on the dial knob. This restriction is primarily because of the minimum current needed to overcome the locked rotor current condition and the load applied from the tube. The specific percentage speeds for each RPM and tube combination can be found in the attached chart.
Why does my pump shut down after a few seconds of operation?Check for liquid in the pump head area. Make sure the TFD+ sensor pins are clean and remove any residual build up.
