Cooling Tower Overview
Cooling towers cool water and are massive heat exchangers, expelling building heat into the atmosphere. They remove heat absorbed in circulating water systems used in various industries such as power plants, chemical processing, steel mills, and other places where processing cooling is needed. Also, commercial cooling towers provide comfort cooling for large commercial buildings like airports, schools, hospitals, and hotels.
Importance of Cooling Tower Water Treatment
Cooling water contains contaminants, falling into four main categories: suspended solids, dissolved solids, dissolved gases, and microorganisms. The contaminants can originate from both air and makeup water. Lack of proper treatment can lead to scale formation, corrosion, and elevated bacteria levels in the water.
The main objectives of a water treatment program is to ensure efficiency, water conservation, prevent human health-related concerns, and maintain equipment.
