Preparation
The APH2O is designed to withstand outdoor conditions, although it is recommended to locate the panel in a protected enclosure for maximum life. A cool, dry location where the unit can be easily monitored and serviced is recommended. Special ventilation is not required.
Choose a location that ensures proper water inlet conditions. Ensure minimum water pressure for flow requirement. 7.5 PSI water source is recommended. Prevent excess inlet pressure by installing a PRV on any water source with pressure above 30 PSI.
The APH2O should be mounted on a level, flat surface. We recommend using the provided FRP strut for secure installation. When mounted to a wall, use hardware appropriate for the wall material and support. Check weight and force requirements prior to mounting to the wall.
Do not support any other structure or piping from the APH2O panel.
Wall Mount Space: The APH2O analyzer panel size is 36” H x 20” W x 10” D in.
Please accommodate sufficient space for mounting. The panel is provided with rear strut for simple wall mounting.
Wall Mount Weight: Approximately 45 lbs (20kg). Please use appropriate mounting hardware.
When moving and lifting the skid, use the provided handles and be careful not to damage any component hardware.
Physical Installation
The APH2O must be level to ensure accuracy. The WR20 chamber comes with an integral bubble level. Check the level before final mounting.
If mounting to the wall, follow these instructions:
- Use the existing FRP strut and provided brackets and hardware.
- Choose a wall location and mark the wall location for FRP mounting.
- Drill holes or prepare wall surface.
- Mount FRP strut using appropriate hardware for wall or surface.
- Re-attach panel to strut using provided hardware.
Sensor Installation
The FCL700 and UT700 sensors may be shipped separately in the box. They must be inserted into the WR20 Chamber. Remove protective tip form sensors. See the maintenance section for details on sensor installation and replacement.
Take care when connecting the sensor cable to the sensor.
This may also be a good time to check the inside of the WR20 chamber to ensure it is clean and free of debris. Use a clean cloth to wipe the inside of the chamber.
Piping and Tubing Connections
The APH2O Analyzer must be connected to a proper water source with adequate pressure to provide minimal flow through the chamber. The discharge water outlet location must be determined prior to installation.
Before connecting the water supply to the unit, let the water run for 30 seconds to ensure all debris and particulates have cleared. New connections or valves that have not been opened recently may contain dirt or other sediment build-up. Run this water to drain.
The analyzer is provided with inlet and outlet tubing proper for inlet water connection.
Water Supply: Inlet water pressure should be from 7.25 – 30 psi (0.05-0.2MPa) with an inlet feedwater line diameter of ¼-inch O.D. Tubing. The APH2O is provided with an inlet Rotameter and flow-regulating valve for sample water inlet flow control and limited pressure regulation. The range of inlet flow for the WR20 should be consistently maintained between 9.5 gph and 15.5 gph (600 and 1,000 mL per minute.)
Drainage: The WR20 flowing outlet (3/4” I.D. Tubing) is located on the bottom of the WR20. The weir overflow (3/8-inch O.D. Tubing) is located on the top of the WR20. Both flowing outlet and overflow must be connected to a discharge drain via gravity flow.
A drain valve is located at the bottom of the unit for complete drainage during maintenance. Keep this valve closed during normal operation.
We recommend checking system pressure from the source. Do not put too much pressure on the unit. If supply water pressure is above 30 PSI, an inlet pressure-regulating valve may be required.
Wiring
Always wear protective clothing, face shield, safety glasses and gloves when working on your Analyzer. Use caution when lifting and mounting equipment. When in doubt, contact the factory for assistance.
Power Wiring
The APH2O analyzer has universal AC power supply equipment allowing users simply to plug the power supply into a 100~240V AC 50/60Hz power outlet for normal operation. The unit comes with a 6-foot power cord with a standard 110VAC 15-5P connector.
The process of electrical connection to contact the 220V single-phase power supply, should be operated by personnel with an electrician’s license. Failure to operate according to the electrical code of practice may result in electric shock injury or even death. Note: When in doubt regarding your electrical installation, contact a licensed electrician.
Wiring Diagram
The APH2O analyzer uses a simple terminal block connection. The terminal board comes prewired to sensor 8-pin pigtail cables. The input cables offer a male adapter for direct connection to the sensors. This cable is to be terminated to the sensor only. When performing sensor maintenance, be sure to connect the correct cable to the sensor.
Input/Output Wiring
The internal terminal board is prewired to the two 8-pin sensor cables.
- The input cables/wires for the FCL700 sensor and the UT700 are labeled for easy reconnection if the sensors need replacing.
Output wiring to 4-20ma and Modbus NTU will require opening the control panel. This can be done easily with a standard flathead screwdriver. Unscrew the two connectors on the right-hand side of the panel and open. Terminal connections for output signals are labeled on terminal blocks 31-40.
Note: Shielded cables must be used on all signal wiring.
Refer to the instructions in the manual for detailed information.

Frequently Asked Questions
APH2O Installation
- What is residual chlorine?
Residual chlorine is the amount of chlorine that remains in water after it has been treated with chlorine. Chlorine is added to water to kill harmful bacteria and viruses. Residual chlorine helps to protect water from recontamination as it travels through pipes and distribution systems.
