Start-up, Testing, and Initial Programming

Prior to Operation – System Review 

After the APH2O Analyzer has been installed, all components should be checked again for proper alignment and secure connections.  Ensure all connections are tight and the hardware for the strut supports are secure. 

Check electrical connections and wiring (to be done by qualified personnel).  Connect the APH2O to power and allow the system to boot.  This should take only a few seconds.  

Initial System Testing 

After all connections and wiring have been checked, begin to introduce water to the system.  As mentioned previously, check to ensure water lines are free of debris.  It is recommended to disconnect the inlet tubing and run the first 20-30 seconds of water to drain to ensure dirt and debris do not enter the unit. After ensuring the water is clear, turn off the water and reconnect the tubing.  

The isolation valve and needle valve on the flow meter should be closed. Open the isolation valve first, then slowly open the flow meter needle valve to introduce water into the unit. Gradually increase flow until the flow reads between 9.5 and 15.5 gph (600-1,000 mL/min).   

Water will fill the reservoir and overflow to drain via the installed overflow weir.  Observe water flow by removing the reservoir cover. Check for leaks. Place the cover back on the reservoir. The APH2O is now ready for operation/calibration.   

The APH2O comes calibrated from the factory, but a field calibration may be required depending on system and site requirements. See Operation section for details on pH, chlorine, and turbidity calibration.  

Set-Up Controls and Programming

After the TS10 is turned on (press the button on the left side of the panel), a “Blue-White” introduction screen will appear while the unit is starting. The main interface will appear and display real-time chlorine residual, pH value, and turbidity of the water flowing through the WR20 chamber. It may take as long as 5-10 minutes for the readings to stabilize.  The 4-20ma signals are displayed at the top of each parameter. 

The APH2O Analyzer can be programmed to provide valuable feedback to SCADA or MODBUS TCP control system. Features and feedback outputs include: 

  • 4-20mA outputs (3)(programmable) 
  • Data logging 
  • Alarm Settings, Time & Date, Data Export, Signal Hold, and System reset.  

To program these outputs/settings, the operator will need to login.  Login is not required to monitor readings.

User Login is necessary when changing parameters, settings, and performing calibrations. To access the Login screen, press the “Home” icon at the top left of the main screen. Select the “User” option and press the “Login” key. If this is the first time using the APH2O, you must log in to the “blue-white” account and use the default password “888888.” You may now add users by selecting the “Manage” option. Create users and set passwords for all users.  

User set-up and management should be done only by authorized administrators. Assign new users to the appropriate user group. Only users in the “Admin Group” are allowed to set parameters and perform calibrations.

We recommend users “Logout” when done performing tasks.  

4-20 mA output Programming 

4-20mA output settings can be programmed by pressing the “Home” Icon and pressing “Parameters”. Choose “4-20mA output” to enter the 4-20mA output parameter interface.  

The 4mA and 20mA output values should correspond to the lower and upper limits of the sensor range. *NOTE* The closer the value is set to the measurement value, the more accurate the data. It is recommended to set according to the sensor’s range

Alarm Settings 

Alarm Parameter settings can be programmed by pressing the “Home” Icon and then pressing “Parameters”. Choose “Alarm Parameters” to access settings.   The user can choose to “enable” alarms, and set “upper” and “lower” limits for each sensor value. Alarms will be displayed on real-time monitoring screen.  

Other Settings 

To modify system settings, such as Time, Date, TCP, Display, press a finger on touchscreen while the unit is powering on. With the unit off, press and hold a finger on the screen and press the power button. Hold the finger on screen until system settings window appears. Do not change settings if unsure of their use. Consult factory for guidance. After saving settings, close window and press “run” button to resume monitoring.

    The data is exported to a CSV file format.

  • Can I use any type of USB disk? memory thumb drive?

    To export data, use a USB-A 2.0 drive with a minimum memory of 4 GB.
