Preparation

The CO2 Feed System is designed to withstand outdoor conditions, although it is recommended to locate the unit in a protected enclosure for maximum life. A cool, dry location where the unit can be easily monitored and serviced is recommended. Special ventilation is not required.

Choose a location that is close to CO2 supply and injection point into water supply.   Ensure CO2 supply uses a pressure regulator. CO2 pressure must be less than 100 PSI.

The CO2 Feed System should be mounted on a level, flat surface. Choose a location that is easy to access.  If possible, mount in a covered area where exposure to sunlight and rain is minimal. If system is mounted in an outside area where winter conditions exist, mount so that unit can be easily removed during winter.

Do not support any other structure, piping, or devices from the CO2 Feed System.

Wall Mount Space: The CO2 Feed System enclosure size is 8.6” H x 8.94” W x 8.91” D in. Please accommodate sufficient space for mounting.

Wall Mount Weight: Approximately 5 lbs (2.3kg). Please use appropriate mounting hardware.

Physical Installation

Wall mounting instructions:

  1. Use the provided mounting tabs. Attach tabs to the enclosure using the provided hardware.
  2. Choose a wall location and use the unit to mark the mounting hole locations.
  3. Drill holes/anchors or prepare wall surface.
  4. Mount to wall. Check to ensure unit is secure and front cover can be opened easily.

Install alternate 30-350 scfm float (if desired):

The CO2 Feed System will ship with the PVDF (opaque/white) float (0 – 80 scfh) installed. If the higher flow range of 30-350 scfh is desired, you will need to replace PVDF float with the stainless steel float.

To replace float:

  1. Loosen top and bottom union nuts.
  2. Slowly pull the flow meter body out. Be careful not to lose o-rings.
  3. With care, remove the top guide rod holder and place it to the side.
  4. Slowly tilt the flow meter until the PVDF float slides off the guide rod. Place float to the side.
  5. Place the stainless steel float onto the guide rod. Ensure the float is in the proper “up” position. The larger diameter section of the float should be at the top.
  6. Replace the guide rod holder. Be careful not to bend the guide rod.
  7. With O-rings in place, slide the meter body back into place.
  8. Tighten the top and bottom union nuts.

Tubing Connection

Inlet: Use the provided 1/4” ID x 3/8” OD tubing to connect to the CO2 supply. Push tubing onto the inlet push-connector. If using other tubing, tubing must be rated for 100 psi and be compatible with the conditions of the location.

Outlet: Use the provided 1/4” ID x 3/8” OD tubing to connect to the injection point. Push the tubing onto the inlet push-connector. If using other tubing, it must be rated for 100 psi and compatible with the location’s conditions.

CO2 Tank Location and Set-up

The CO2 cylinder (supply) should be located near the controller. Locate the cylinder so it can be secured to the wall.  The cylinder should not be able to move more than a few inches or be allowed to fall over or tip at any time.

Install a pressure regulator. Set the pressure out at a value below 100 PSI and above the water system pressure. Choose a value closer to the system pressure.

If using 2 tanks with a switchover unit, mount the switchover unit to the wall between the cylinders/tanks. Make connections and test per the instructions provided with the switchover unit.

Install a pre-heater on the output of the CO2 tank to prevent freezing as CO2 expands.

Connect CO2 Feed System tubing to the proper discharge location of the regulator, switchover, or pre-heater, as appropriate for your installation.

Injector/Diffusor Installation

The provided injector/diffusor should be used to inject the CO2 into the water supply when CO2 flow rate is between 0-80 scfm. Do not exceed this flow rate.

Choose a location where the flow is returning to the pool or tank.  Injector may be connected to pipe or to piping tee with ½” threaded female fitting.

Connect the tubing to the injector.

Eductor Installation

If using an eductor to feed CO2 into your water line, you will need to plumb the eductor unit into piping. Ensure you install the eductor in the proper direction.  Once installed, connect the tubing to eductor.

Wiring

Always wear protective clothing, face shield, safety glasses and gloves when working on your Analyzer. Use caution when lifting and mounting equipment. When in doubt, contact the factory for assistance.

Power Wiring

The CO2 Feed System includes a 6-foot power cord.  Plug the cord into a protected outlet. Any extension cord used must have grounded 3 prong plug.

If using 24 VDC to power the valve, use existing cable gland, and wire per local codes to power source.

Note: When in doubt regarding your electrical installation, contact a licensed electrician.
