General Maintenance
The F-440 Flow Meter requires very little maintenance. However, the flow meter may become clogged due to excess debris in the water. If this happens, shut off the water and remove any pressure from the piping.
Depending on the piping arrangement, either remove the piping section at the nearest union connection or adjust the piping supports to allow for the removal of the flowmeter. It may be necessary to cut piping to service the meter. Remove the flow meter by unscrewing the adapters at the top and bottom. Pay attention to O-rings, float, and guide to avoid damage.
If the F-440 Flow Meter is panel mounted, remove the meter from the panel. Disconnect piping from adapters. Remove the flow meter by unscrewing the panel nuts at the top and bottom. Remove the top cap and remove the guide rod and float. Remove top and bottom flow meter adapters for more thorough cleaning. Pay attention to O-rings, float, and guide to avoid damage. Use a soft bristle brush and mild soap to clean the inside of the body and parts.
Reinstall the flow meter and test. If the float was removed during the cleaning process, ensure the float is correctly reinstalled. The float is wider at the top.
